However, there are a few circumstances in which the heart may continue to beat despite having passed away, even though it is not really beating in the conventional sense. A few explanations for this phenomena are as follows:

Contraction of Muscles:

 Following death, a process known as rigour mortis occurs in which the body’s muscles stiffen and contract as a result of a shortage of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is necessary for muscle relaxation. The muscles, including those in the heart, can appear to twitch or contract during rigour mortis, giving the appearance of a beating heart.

Mechanical factors:

The heart may occasionally move or be compressed as a result of outside forces like motion or pressure applied to the chest. The heart may appear to beat or pulse as a result of this external energy, even when it has stopped working.

Activity of the Autonomic Nervous System:

 The autonomic nervous system regulates a number of body processes, including heart rhythm and beat. The autonomic nervous system may still be active after death, resulting in occasional electrical impulses being transmitted to the heart. These impulses may result in fleeting contractions or motions that could be mistaken for heartbeats.

It’s crucial to remember that even if the heart appears to continue beating after death, the person is still regarded as deceased, and  these movements are involuntary and not in indicative.
